The Navy football team had a big year in 2024. They won some big games and lost some tough ones. This season, the Midshipmen have shown how tough and driven they are, both on and off the field.
High points of the season: Navy Football Team
The team started the season well by getting 6-0 for the first time since 1979. One of the first wins was a big 51–17 win over Charlotte. That game showed how good the team was at scoring.
Blake Horvath, a junior quarterback, has had a great season. Horvath did really well in the game against Alabama-Birmingham. Navy won 41–18 thanks to two scores that were longer than 70 yards. Being able to do two things well has been key to the team’s success and has always driven their attacking plan.
One of the most important moments of the season was winning the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy for the first time since 2019. The Midshipmen did this by beating Army 31–13. Horvath threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns. After a long race, this win made Navy even stronger, and the team was proud of it.
Things that had to be fixed:
The season had some problems, even with these wins. They lost 51–14 to No. 12 Notre Dame in their game. It was very bad for the game that the Navy lost sixteen mistakes. It showed the team what they could do better as they work to make their goals better.
What’s Next:
In the Armed Forces Bowl, Navy is getting ready to play Oklahoma. The team can end the season on a high note and show how well they can bounce back from losses in this next game.
There were good times and bad times for Navy football in the 2024 season. With a strong start and a win back of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, the Midshipmen have shown what they can do. The team needs to do well in the bowl game to cap off a great season.
